Privacy Policy
Fidaro ("Fidaro", "we", "us") builds an app that helps you see your bank accounts, balances and transactions in one place. This policy explains what information we collect through the Fidaro app and the website at fidarotech.com, how we use it, and the choices you have. We wrote it in plain language on purpose — if anything is unclear, contact us at hello@fidarotech.com.
The short version
- We never see or store your online banking username or password.
- We use your financial data only to show it to you in the app.
- We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
- You can disconnect your bank or delete your account at any time.
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account information — such as your name and email address when you create a Fidaro account or join our early-access list.
- Messages — anything you send us when you contact support or email us.
Financial information from your bank (through Plaid)
When you choose to connect a bank account, Fidaro uses Plaid Inc. to make that connection. You sign in to your bank inside Plaid's secure window; your bank credentials go to Plaid and your bank, not to Fidaro. With your permission, Plaid then shares the following with us:
- Account names, types and the last digits of account numbers
- Account balances
- Transaction history (date, amount, merchant or description, and category)
- Account and routing numbers, including wire routing numbers, so you can view them in the app
- The name of your financial institution
Plaid's handling of your information is described in the Plaid End User Privacy Policy. By connecting an account, you agree to Plaid collecting and processing your data under that policy.
Information collected automatically
- App and device data — basic technical information such as device type, operating system version, app version and error logs, used to keep the app working.
- Website — fidarotech.com does not use cookies, analytics or advertising trackers. Our hosting provider (Vercel) and font provider (Google Fonts) may log standard technical data such as IP address and browser type when the page loads.
How we use your information
- To provide the app — showing your accounts, balances, transactions and account details.
- To keep your connected accounts up to date.
- To secure the service, prevent fraud and fix problems.
- To respond to your questions and send important service messages (for example, changes to this policy).
- To let you know when Fidaro launches, if you joined the early-access list. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- To comply with legal obligations.
How we share information
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only:
- With service providers who help us run Fidaro — such as Plaid (bank connections) and our cloud hosting providers — and only as needed to provide their service to us.
- If required by law, such as to respond to a valid legal request, or to protect the rights, safety and security of our users or others.
- In a business transfer, such as a merger or acquisition, in which case this policy will continue to protect your information.
- With your consent, in any other case.
How we protect your information
Data sent between the app, our servers and Plaid is encrypted in transit using TLS. Access tokens that let us refresh your bank data are stored on our servers, not on your device, and access to production data is limited to people who need it to run the service. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify you if a breach affects your data where required by law.
How long we keep information
We keep your information while your account is active. If you disconnect a bank account, we stop retrieving new data from it. If you delete your Fidaro account, we delete your personal and financial information within 30 days, except where we must keep certain records to meet legal obligations.
Your choices and rights
- Disconnect a bank at any time in the app.
- Access, correct or delete your information by contacting us.
- Opt out of emails using the unsubscribe link in any email.
Depending on where you live (for example, California or the European Economic Area and UK), you may have additional rights, such as the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to receive a copy of it, or to object to certain processing. We honor these requests and will not treat you differently for making them. To make a request, email hello@fidarotech.com.
Children
Fidaro is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Fidaro grows. When we make changes, we will update the effective date above, and if the changes are significant we will let you know in the app or by email.
